What is TriLaVie?

“It is the most non-judgmental, supportive and wonderful group of women in Orange County you will ever meet…and we get together to train for triathlons too!”

Lisa Manton - Owner/Coach

Our Mission.

TriLaVie means life through the sport of triathlon and its three disciplines (swim/bike/run).

Keeping a balance in life and training, we train in the 3 endurance sports to enhance our fitness, vitality, social connections and confidence.

TriLaVie’s skill-based trainings will introduce you to the fundamentals of each sport and challenge you as you prepare for each race. Best of all, you’ll surprise yourself as you discover what you are capable of achieving.

The TriLaVie Triathlon Program offers a unique endurance sport team experience. We provide triathlon training programs specifically for women, and provide weekly, professionally-coached team trainings throughout the season. Many women who join the TriLaVie Triathlon team have never raced. We welcome all levels of athletes!

While the accomplishment of swimming, biking and running your way to the finish line with a personal best effort is tremendous, the lessons you learn and the strength you build within yourself are what TriLaVie team members find most rewarding. And the camaraderie you will discover as a member of TriLaVie may be what you find provides the greatest value and personal satisfaction.

Coaches

“From the beginning, I found TriLaVie to be a special organization. The opportunity to train and lead women who I now call my friends is priceless!”

- Lisa Manton, Owner and Coach

Lisa Manton

Owner, Ironman Triathlete, USAT Level 1 Coach

An accomplished Ironman triathlete and TriLaVie member since 2008, Coach Lisa Manton has led TriLaVie since 2016 as both Principal and USAT-Certified Coach.

Coach Lisa grew up in Palos Verdes & played competitive indoor volleyball in high school. She graduated from USC with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Organization. In 2008, while living in Ladera Ranch & being a mom to her 3 kids (Reese, Tage and Bennett), little did Lisa know that her life would change. A friend asked if she wanted to do a triathlon & join an emerging all-women’s triathlon team. This was the beginning of an amazing, life-transforming experience that would enrich Lisa’s life in all ways.

Lisa started her triathlon journey as a short distance runner and hadn’t ridden a bike in 20 years. Swimming was definitely going to be the challenge…she hadn’t swam laps before…ever. But once Lisa completed her first sprint triathlon, she felt as though she could do anything!

Linda Kessman

Coach, Ultra Marathon Runner, Ironman Triathlete, Boston Marathon Qualifier

Curious about running in Orange County? Coach Linda Kessman has all the answers! Linda knows the Orange County trail system and running routes inside and out, and she’ll give you the encouragement you need to give trail running a try.

Linda’s love of trail running is infectious! Run with Linda at any of her Saturday morning trail running sessions and you’ll quickly see why. She’ll welcome you and familiarize you with the running route, and she always circles back to guide you on the correct path and to point out the best views that our Orange County trails have to offer.

Marta Mulhall

Coach, Triathlete, Former Collegiate Runner, Mother of 5

Knowledgeable, compassionate, and a driven, competitive triathlete herself, Coach Marta Mulhall is a huge part of what makes TriLaVie so unique. With over a decade of triathlon racing experience, Coach Marta knows exactly what it takes to get you across the finish line of your dream race, & she’ll be with you every step of the way. Whether it’s swimming, biking or running, strength training or spin-class, Coach Marta is with you each week, working with you to get you race-ready.

Marta curates the training plans to each individual athlete and adjusts according to busy schedules outside of triathlon training. As a mother of 5, she has a unique understanding of the necessity of flexibility for her athletes.

Jim Lubinski

Coach and Professional Triathlete

One of the principals of the famed Tower 26 Group, Coach Jim Lubinski came to the sport of triathlon in 2005 after a long & successful career as both a Collegiate Division 1 University & Professional Ice Hockey Player. Jim used the knowledge he had gained through the years of ice hockey to refine his approach to the sport of triathlon.

In 2009, Jim qualified to become a Professional Triathlete. That same year, Jim also earned his coaching credentials through USA Triathlon and earned his N.A.S.M Certification, making him a certified strength coach/personal trainer. Since then, Jim has earned specializations in Corrective Exercise and Performance Enhancement. These certifications, along with the Ironman University Certification, give Jim a strong base of knowledge and education to use in his coaching. In addition, Jim finds his personal experience in training and racing, along with the experience he has had coaching hundreds of athletes in endurance sport to be a main factor in the style he uses to get the most of each individual athlete.

Jim stresses open communication, a structured/periodized approach, and a strong emphasis on strength work both in and out of the swim, bike, and run environment to help the athlete get faster, but more importantly, stay injury free.
